Monotributo Libra 2023: what the new categories are like and how much you have to pay from January

With the beginning of January, every year the Monotribute categories are updatedthe simplified regime which allows for the payment of a single unified tax based on the level of income and activity.

Starting from 2023, both the billing ceiling for each category and what must be paid, the maximum amounts of the accrued fees and the maximum unit sales price will increase. But this year there is some surprises.

The maximum billable amounts for each scale had already been updated in July and now they will increase by 33.58% compared to the last value. Thus, category A, the lowest, will increase from $748,382.07 to $999,657.23 and the highest, category K, will increase from $6,019,594.89 to $8,040,721.19.

But the integrated tax and social security contributions will increase by 72.48%. This will be so because during 2022 there was no adjustment and the increase is compared to January 2022,

The surprise comes with regards to the social work. This year there will be a change, While before all categories paid the same ($1,775.18 last year), now it will be variable.

The increase will be 72.48% only for the first three categories (A, B, and C), where it will drop from $1,775.18 to $3,061.75. From D (maximum income of $2,583,720.42) goes up. So, for example, D will pay $3,638.26, E will pay $4,452.02 and thus rise to K, which will have a 591% increase and it will go to $10,505.29.

The reason given for this change voted with the 2023 Budget is that with the increase in costs, the fixed contribution for all categories was insufficient finance the health coverage of single-tax payers who pay the three components of the system (taxes, social assistance and pension).

For this reason, most of the social works pose obstacles to the attention or affiliation of single tax payers, although the regulations point out that the single tax payer, at the time of accreditation with AFIP, can freely choose any social work.

With the new income scales, taxpayers have until January 20 to reclassify themselves, either up or down if necessary.
