Centennial vs. rest of the world: what they value most is working where and how they want

Centennials are the generation now entering the job market and corporate HR managers are deciphering what tools should these guys try with, what they have today up to 25 years (technically these are those born between 1997 and 2012). There are many candidates for the technology market, where there is a demand that hasn’t been met for years.

For 83% of Argentine HR specialists, what attracts centenarians to companies is not the same thing that seduced previous generations. It’s not the salaryit is not the possibility of professional growth and, even less, the trajectory of the employer in the market.

“What fascinates you?” was the question that Bumeran addressed to 848 professionals in the area. The predominant answer (30%): mainly, work remotely or, at most, with a hybrid mode. The second thing they mentioned (18%) was schedule flexibility. Namely: work where, when and how they want.

Furthermore, 18% of professionals believe that the younger generation appreciates the salary in priority.

What happens in the region? Ecuadorian and Panamanian professionals differ from Argentine respondents and believe that centennials value the salary above other factors. For his part, specialists from Chile (30%) and Peru (29%) coincide with those from Argentina (30%) and believe that hybrid or remote work is the requirement that most attracts the new generations.

Unlike centennials, for 51% of Argentine professionals, remuneration is what most attracts previous generations to work in the company and for 24% it is the possibility of professional growth. While the hybrid or remote working method, the most appreciated by centennials, is – with 2% – one of the requirements that least appeals to the older generations.

Regionally, there is unanimity among specialists who agree that salary captivates the talents of previous generations over other factors. In Panama for 58% of professionals, in Argentina for 51%, in Chile for 48%, in Peru for another 48% and in Ecuador for 44%.

if it is measured the entire universe of employeescomposed mainly of Millennials and Generation X, 77% of Argentine specialists believe that the factor most appreciated by talents in general is the salary, for 67% it is work-life balance, and for 66% it is the good working environment.

Between less valued7% of professionals select extended parental leave programs, 17% mention wellness programs with active breaks, gym discounts, among others, and another 17% refer to the company and its prominent place in the market.
