The energy company PCR, which operates in the south of the country, acquired five oil fields to the Phoenix Global Resources group of Mendoza, where it already operated.
These are the oil and gas blocks named Puesto Rojas, Cerro Mollar Oeste, Cerro Mollar Norte and La Brea located in malargueand the area of La Paloma-Cerro Alquitrán, in the department of St. Raphael. It will also add a crude oil delivery facility and other businesses for which would pay a total of 10 million dollars,
The areas are part of the northern zone of the Neuquén Basin. The transfer of the areas will take place after the approval that the province will have to carry out.
With this acquisition, PCR -company of the Argentine families Brandi and Cavallo– Will begin producing a total of 1,500 barrels of oil per day in Mendoza. It will also add reserves and new areas with exploration potential, where it plans to increase production through a $20 million investment.
PCR extension (whose original name is Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia) It is also the main hydrocarbon producer in the province of La Pampawith 4 blocks located in the city of 25 de mayo.
“Conventional fields still have a lot of production to contribute, which we owe devote resources to them technical, operational and economic to continue with the recovery of hydrocarbons. In this sense PCR continues to focus its activity on mature fields, while taking into account the assessment of new developments, with a geographical concentration in Mendoza and La Pampa which allows you to optimize operating costs and achieve greater efficiency,” said Marcelo Irusta, Oil & Gas director of the company.
PCR has been in the country for over 100 years. It is the oldest private company in the Argentine oil industry, the main producer of cement in the Patagonia region and one of the leaders in the generation of renewable energy (it operates three wind farms with a total capacity of 329.4 MW and is building three new ones for another 198 MW of capacity).
PCR also has four areas in Ecuador, where it is the third largest privately owned oil company in the country.
