Show promoter DF Entertainment credited a new achievement. The company, which owns the rights to the Lollapalooza mega-festival, signed a million dollar contract with River to perform 20 recitals at the renovated Monumental over the next 3 years. In exchange, will pay more than 15 million dollars (at the official exchange), according to the letter of intent approved in the club assembly, currently chaired by the banker Jorge Brito, owner of Macro.

DF belongs to businessman Diego Finkelstein and is a member of Live Nation, one of the giants of world entertainment. It is the main producer of the country: is the one who organized the 10 concerts in River that Coldplay He toasted his last visit with sold-out locations (about 600,000), an all-time record. The previous one was in the hands of Roger Waters, who in 2012 offered 9 shows as part of his The Wall Live tour – also in River – for 370,000 people.

Monumental is a fundamental asset for producers. It is considered the main cathedral for live events, by capacity and location. DF got its exclusive use until December 31, 2025 to offer up to 20 shows. The cost of each varies depending on whether it is a single recital or a series. River will receive the equivalent of $750,000 in pesos (according to the daily price) for the first one and $650,000 for the second one onwards.

The Núñez entity, therefore, can credit the ongoing renovations to expand the capacity of its stadium. Today it can accommodate up to 83,000 spectators at each football match and around 75,000 at a recital. The difference lies in the preparation of the stage, which prevents you from occupying one of the heads, “partly compensated by the use of the playing field”, he explained to clarion a club manager.

DF Entertainment is the leading production company in the country. Competes in business with Pop Art, Move Concerts, Lauría, Ake Music and T4F, among others, which contest the hiring of international and local artists to produce shows. In 2022 and after the easing of the quarantine, DF signed Coldplay, which set new records in the box office and number of shows. The British band led by Chris Martin completed 10 concerts in Buenos Aires between October 25 and November 8 of that year, all to a full stadium. Something never seen.

One of DF’s great assets is the organization of the Lollapalooza festival. Finkelstein introduced it to the country in 2014 (it’s a global platform that takes place in 3 days), always sold out. Such is the lure that tickets go on sale long before anyone knows who will be appearing. This year the “Lolla” will take place from 17 to 19 March, at the San Isidro Racecourse.

The new agreement between River and DF includes other payment clauses, choice of dates and stadium care. On one side, the club raised an extra million dollars (always at the official dollar rate) as a key to exclusivity. And what’s more, they credited half of the total contract amount of all shows as an advance. The cost of renting the Monumentale remains to be defined if the artist offering the concert is local. “It will be agreed between the parties, but everything indicates that there won’t be any,” they tell the club.

In any case, DF managed to get ahead of its competitors by obtaining the River rights, an indisputable advantage over other widely used venues for recitals: the Estadio Unico de La Plata, the Palermo and San Isidro racetracks and the Campo Argentino de Polo. The production company will have the option to choose 20 more dates between now and 2025, provided they do not interfere with the team’s sporting calendar or affect its position.
