The Ministry of Agricultural Policies has ordered the concession of a exceptional extension of 180 days for shipments of maize grain, with the aim of alleviating the inconvenience caused by drought, through resolution 78/2023 published today in the Official Journal.
Grants an Exceptional Automatic Extension of 180 calendar days to the Affidavits of Sales Abroad (DJVE) for corn whose declared shipment period, plus the automatic extension, was scheduled to expire between March 1 and March next July 31st.
Previously, in mid-December, Agriculture had taken the same measure for corn whose expiration was scheduled for that month, January and February.
As a result of the granting of this extension, the possibility of an extraordinary extension of 30 days granted by the usual notarial deed system is excluded.
The measure is based on “possible derivatives in the cereal and by-product export sector” of the drought affecting the country, and responds to a presentation of the situation by the Center for Cereal Exporters (Cek).
“Since corn is a product that is strongly affected by this climatic condition, it is necessary to adopt concrete measures to limit the consequences they could cause and their implications in the agricultural export scenario”, indicate the premises of the resolution.
Consequently, Agriculture understands that the extension will make it possible to “promote the care of all the actors involved in the cereal trade chain”, protecting the internal market and, at the same time, without affecting the “transactions linked to the foreign market”.
