The Government has formalized the increase in the Food Card: what are the new amounts

The government made official this Tuesday the increase in the monthly amount that they perceive through Food card the families benefiting from the “Argentine Plan against Hunger”. The updated sum, which as always can be intended exclusively for the purchase of grocerieshad a 35% increase.

The provision, announced on 11 April by Economy Minister Sergio Massa and his counterpart for Social Development, Victoria Tolosa Paz, after a meeting with Alberto Fernández, was ratified with resolution 700/2023 published in the last number of the Official Gazette.

According to the recitals of the regulation, the “increases in benefits provided through the Food Card, intended for families in situations of social vulnerability” will have an impact “from payment to come into effect in May 2023”.

“We are making this increase understanding the enormous need to continue working to address access to the basic food basket,” specified Tolosa Paz more than two weeks ago in the short message announcing the increases, previously recorded and broadcast on YouTube.

The minister also explained that March is a “key month” because the amount of the universal child benefit increases by law. Together with the coverage of the Food Charter, they impact 4 million children and 2.3 million families.

The measure adds $121 billion to the nation’s existing state investment in food security for children and adolescents.

The last increase had been arranged last November and had increased the amounts by 40%.

What are the new amounts of the Food Card

The amount that families with a child aged 0-14 will receive will range from $12,000 to $17,000while those with two children in the same age range will go from $19,000 to $26,000.

Families with three or more children, for their part, will bring their current $25,000 to $34,000.

Adults and adults with daughters and sons up to the age of 14 who receive the Universal Child Allowance (AUH), pregnant women from the third month of gestation who receive the pregnancy allowance, people with disabilities can receive the Carta Alimentare who receive AUH and mothers with seven or more children who receive Non-Contributory Pensions.
