Airlines dedicated to fumigation and field planting, firefighting, medical flights and private jets They are demanding that the government postpone a decision obliging many of these companies to send their pilots abroad so they can renew their licenses.
This is a resolution of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) which establishes that from 1 June pilots must renew their flight licenses every 12 months. using a flight simulator.
The regulation in question is ANAC Resolution 91 and was issued by the body chaired by Paola Tamburelli as part of the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to increase the operational safety of all flights including those of small planes and aircraft.
But since Chamber of Non-Scheduled Air Transport Companies (CETANR) told the ANAC that postpone the entry into force of this resolution. Through a declaration, this entity led by Guillermo della Rodolfa stated that in Argentina there is a shortage of simulators“which makes it difficult to train pilots and co-pilots. Training courses abroad are expensive in dollarsadded to the well-known public difficulties associated with the shortage of foreign currency, which makes it difficult to make payments abroad”.
According to sources in that chamber, the cost of sending a pilot to train overseas is $12,000, plus travel expenses. “These are expenses for companies that bill in pesos, given that they provide their services within the country, and that have restrictions from the Central Bank also to import spare parts for those same planes. The resolution does not contemplate the reality that lives the country today,” the sources added.
The government has defended the resolution, even if they have not ruled out that it will be postpone its entry into force. But official sources stressed that there were direct plane crashes related to lack of training.
“There are many general aviation accidents and incidents that the Transportation Safety Board has determined to be they were the product of the human failure of general aviation pilots who trained but spent a lot of time without flying,” the official sources point out. suggesting that this regulation be brought into force”.
