Without taking a position on the way in which the Government has chosen to apply a broad package of deregulations covering a large number of activities and contractual relationships, the Amcham – Chamber which brings together the main foreign companies and some national companies operating in the country – He came out strongly in favor of the DNU promoted by president Javier Milei.
The fact that the Government has opted for a Decree of Necessity and Urgency who tries to avoid debate in Congress, it was not mentioned from Amcham’s statement, even though it is the discussion of the moment between the ruling party and the opposition.
Amcham celebrates, for example, the fact that the DNU seeks to put an end to “useless and destructive interventionism by the State“and also underlines that the official initiative “generates new hope that our country can reverse a long period characterized by economic stagnation”.
Amcham’s full statement says this:
The United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AmCham) appreciates that the National Government is willing to adopt measures that allow the full social and economic development of the country, establishing broad deregulation of trade, services and industry throughout the National territory. , and leaving ineffective many of the restrictions on the supply of goods and services, as well as any regulatory requirements that distort the conditions established in a free and competitive market.
Circumscribing the relationships between businesses and citizens on the premise that the parties are free to stipulate a contract and determine its content, within the limits imposed by law, habits and customs, generates new hope that our country can reverse a long period characterized by economic stagnation, very high inflation rates, useless and destructive state interventionism, public finance deficits, high fiscal pressure combined with unsustainable informality and a very significant increase in poverty.
In line, it is important to highlight some aspects that contribute to facilitating the management of
businesses and the definition of clear and sustainable rules:
• Changes in employment matters that promote simplification in the administration of employment relationships and with a clear pro-employment and anti-dispute orientation.
• Commercial activity is largely deregulated at a national level, promoting a structural transformation of the matter, focusing on consumer and customer preferences and on proposals for new innovative products without state intervention.
• The objective is to promote greater competition between financial institutions, as well as to make the requirements for the offering and management of credit cards more flexible.
• Multiple export restrictions are eliminated and new customs regulatory frameworks are introduced.
• Related to the healthcare system, the liberalization of prepaid tariffs, which generates greater competition between private providers, and the transition towards digital prescriptions, and other deregulations to the benefit of the pharmaceutical business.
• An open skies aero-commercial policy is promoted, which allows companies to carry out both national flights within the country and international flights to and from Argentina, without the need for bilateral reciprocity treaties, making the air offer more competitive, diversified and economical.
We also support the decision of the Executive Power of the Nation to promote all regulations that improve international standards, seeking to harmonize the internal market to the extent possible, establishing the conditions for Argentina’s integration into the world, which represents an urgent need. faced with this challenge.
We at Amcham are convinced that the government’s revaluation of the private sector as a relevant player in the economy will result in greater investment, quality job growth, increased exports and systemic reduction of poverty levels. These aspects are crucial to bring the country back on the path of sustained economic and social development, once again transforming Argentina into a viable country.
