They all already are. Giuliano Alvarez He is World Champion (also) with Manchester City and has added 15 stars to the titles won with River in tournaments organized by the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) and Conmebol; with the national team and with Manchester City, both locally in England, in Europe and, from Friday, in the Intercontinental.

In River he won a Copa Libertadores, the Recopa Sudamericana, the Argentine Cup and the Argentine Super Cup, the Professional Soccer League tournament and the Champions Trophy. With the national team shirt he was Pre-Olympic champion and won the Copa América, the Final and the World Cup in Qatar.

In England he won the Premier League and FA Cup with the Manchester City shirt, the same one with which he also celebrated the Champions League and European Super Cup titles.

Julián’s new conquest is unprecedented for Manchester City: until Friday he had never established himself at world level, given that until the arrival of Pep Guardiola the club had not won a European competition.

The preamble to the most precious title dates back to months ago, when they lifted the Champions League by beating Inter, in Istanbul, towards the end of the match.

Julián Álvarez made Manchester history with his chest goal at 39 seconds. The Cordoba native saw a rebound and threw himself to the ground, but instead of trying a popcorn, he threw the ball with his chest to make it 1-0, marking the way to victory over Fluminense.

If there was anything missing to secure a place in the fans’ memory, he added an assist for the third goal to the record-breaking goal and closed out the victory with another goal.

In this way he entered the batch of world champions with the national team and his club, since before the Club World Cup, other footballers won the Intercontinental which measured the champions of the Libertadores and the Champions League.

Of the 22 players in the 78 World Cup list, four were also world champions with their club, while there were seven among those in 1986. Of Qatar’s heroes, only Lionel Messi and, now, Julián Álvarez are among that elite.
