The liaison table decided to request an “urgent” meeting with the Central Bank after the extension until 30 June 2024 of a measure that Kirchnerism had imposed and which makes loans to soybean producers more expensive.
The presidents of the four entities that make up the liaison table and part of their technical teams met at the headquarters of the Argentine Rural Confederations (CRA.
As reported at the end of the meeting, it was decided to send an urgent note to the president of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausilli, with the aim of request a hearing after extending Resolution 7720 for another six months issued in March 2023. According to ruralists, it established a discrimination against soybean producers by raising interest rates for credit operations of those who have stored more than 5 percent of their production.
“It is incomprehensible that, instead of moving towards a scenario of greater flexibility and economic openness, measures that unfairly punish agricultural producers are perpetuated who are far from using their cereals in a speculative way”, the ruralists had criticized once the measure was known.
This surcharge, they explained, It not only affects those who are dedicated exclusively to soybean production, but also affects mixed producers, who see, for example, how the interest rate for investments in livestock increases.
“The agricultural sector, a fundamental engine of our economy, is disappointed by this extension, which contradicts expectations of a more favorable environment for the development of production. At a time when there was talk of deregulation, these types of measures reinforce the feeling of uncertainty and vulnerability I suffered from,” they said.
Likewise, the authorities and technicians of the institutions worked on issues related to withholding taxes and export duties established by the DNU, among other topics.
The liaison table instead met with the Senasa president, Pablo Corteseits vice president, Sergio Robert, and part of the technical team of the healthcare organization, with whom the work areas for the new management were discussed.
It was announced on the occasion relaunch of the Advisory Council which aimed to comply with regulations, monitor management and care and industry concerns regarding health or plant emergencies. Furthermore, Senasa reported that he intends to continue with the digitization of medical records (health records), improve systems for better control and increase the relationship with provinces and regional councils.
As indicated by the CEEA, health issues in production were also addressed with the aim of simplifying actions, eliminating double standards and doubling exports.
The meetings were attended by Coninagro, the President Elbio Laucirica, the Secretary Mario Raiteri and Marcos Prenna; for CRA, its president Carlos Castagnani; its vice president, Javier Rotondo and secretary Matías de Velazco; for the Sociedad Rural Argentina, its president Nicolás Pino and second vice president, Raúl Etchebehere; For the Argentine Agrarian Federation there were its president, Carlos Achetoni, president, and Elvio Guía, vice president.
