Elon Musk, owner of X, once again used the former bird network to praise President Javier Milei. The exchange of praise is nothing new between the two. This time the South African tycoon celebrated the speech of the Argentine president, who spoke for the first time at the Davos Economic Forum.
“Good explanation of what makes countries more or less prosperous”, warned the owner of the former Twitter about his statements before world leaders. For Musk, the Argentine president’s ideas are what makes a country more prosperous, if measures are implemented accordingly.
The President also did not wait for his response and also through X thanked him for the praise. “Thank you very much!”, he responded in English to the message from the owner of the companies Tesla and Space, a large auditorium in the city in the Swiss Alps.
Musk’s tweet came at dawn, Milei’s response arrived a few hours later, at six on Thursday 18 January. In Davos Milei defended capitalism and warned that “the West is in danger”, threatened by “socialism that leads to poverty”.
“Free enterprise capitalism is the only tool that we must end hunger and poverty on the planet,” the President said in Switzerland.
The idea and the return between the two is not new. The interactions began to become public from the beginning of the La Libertad Avanza leader’s campaign, and reached their peak when Musk congratulated and celebrated Milei’s victory in last November’s runoff.
On that occasion there was also a telephone conversation between the two, and the recent electoral winner took advantage of that communication to invite the South African tycoon upon his inauguration last December 10th, even though the businessman could not be present. “Even if he will not be able to attend the transfer ceremony, we remain in contact so that next year (in 2024) he will visit Argentina and we can continue to strengthen ties and work together,” the libertarian said then.
Javier Milei’s proposals that Musk has liked so far
“When you put equality above freedom, you get neither. But when you put freedom above equality, you get a lot of both.” Javier Milei’s sentence has its own weight, but if it is also retweeted by the South African tycoon Elon Musk it gains more strength.
On December 5, 2023, the Tesla CEO reproduced on the X network, which he owns, a fragment of an interview that the writer and journalist Jorge Asís conducted with Javier Milei.
On Sunday 19 November Javier Milei defeated the then Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, in the second round. After the victory, the billionaire businessman wrote: “Prosperity is coming to Argentina.”
Before Milei became president, Musk was already sympathetic to the economist’s libertarian ideas. Via X also commented favorably on the opinions expressed by Milei in an interview with the American journalist Tucker Carlson.
That time, in September, the creator of Tesla described it “very interesting” the libertarian’s speeches and concepts, and even reposted the interview to his more than 160 million followers on X, as he renamed the former Twitter.
