Insud Pharma, the company of the group led by entrepreneur Hugo Sigman, has acquired the women’s health activities of the American company Viatris. Both companies have reached a definitive agreement focused on oral and injectable contraceptives manufactured by Insud Pharma the largest manufacturer of contraceptives in the world.
The company believes that the group has thus completed one of the most significant acquisitions in its history: the acquisition of the women’s health business of Viatris. This agreement consolidates Insud Pharma as a global leader in the development and supply of women’s health products, expanding its reach and capabilities across various therapeutic areas.
This investment, the amount of which was not disclosed, “positions Insud Pharma as the largest contraceptive manufacturer in the world,” the company said. Furthermore, it has a direct impact on the rest of the businesses. Another of the group companies, Exeltis EU, gets a boost in its branded product portfolio. At the same time another signature, Xiromed, in the United States., get some top-notch generic products and Chemo gains presence in Africa, where Viatris had already positioned itself as a key supplier of contraceptives in African public health institutions.
Furthermore, the acquisition announced this Friday strengthens Insud Pharma’s presence in key markets such as Africa, but also enhances its industrial presence in India. With the integration of two hormonal centers of excellence in the country, Insud Pharma increases its production and quality capacity, now having a complete network of factories and more than 1,800 employees in India.
