Vehicle terminals are demanded from the Central Bank ”a quick solution“to change, or repeal, the trap imposed by the financial authority on automobile parts companies to access the dollars needed to import supplies.

According to the factories grouped into Association of Automotive Manufacturers (ADEFA), some of the auto parts companies that supply them will be left this month without access to dollars sold by BCRA, a situation that will immediately create a domino effect for automakers. “This will end up having an impact on the production sector,” they said in a statement.

The pressure of automakers against the measure of the governing entity Miguel Pesce started almost simultaneously with the release of “Communication A7466”, at the beginning of March. This rule limits access to dollars at the official price: auto parts companies and factories generally now have a stop to buy those dollars, consisting of the same amount they requested last year and plus 5%.

According to the new BCRA standard, if autoparts exceed the order of dollars, dthey must wait six monthswhich is equal to what they should get the same term of financing of its foreign suppliers.

This situation was alerted last week, at a unusual note signed by both the company and by mechanic’s union (SMATA). In that letter, they told Pesce that “several auto parts companies have informed us that from the first days of May they can no longer continue to supply to terminal companies ”.

The reason, they added, was the decision of the Central Bank to restrict access to dollars at official prices. “It was not accepted by its foreign suppliers (in reference to the six -month delay in payment to them) the changes in the commercial conditions they had prior to communication A 7466 ”, said both ADEFA and AFAC as well as SMATA.

That note was sent to Pesce, with a copy to the Chief of Staff, John Manzurand the Minister of Economy, Martin Guzmanbut it is a private communication which was later leaked to the press. Now, ADEFA comes out with a official statement.

Last month, during his monthly production report, the head of ADEFA, Martin Galdeano determines the subject. On Wednesday, Galdeano chose to mention it hair and signs. “You have to search a quick solution against the Central Bank’s Communication A 7466 which, as we have been alerted, will affect the production sector ”.

Within the automobile companies, they manage a calendar of 47 automobile parts companies with varying levels of difficulty to continue their normal production. Paul Say Yeshead of Volkswagen for South America, also mentioned the topic during the presentation of the company’s investment plan.

“Right now the list refers to our suppliers’ suppliers. But if we don’t work together to find a solution, the industry will stop,” the Argentine executive said. Angela Seltzer, director of Corporate Affairs, said that “we know that (the BCRA proposal) is due to a problem that affects the entire country, but we need to find a solution in May“.

In April, the terminals produced 43,826 vehicles, a value 49.5% higher than the same month last year, but at the same time 10.1% lower compared to March. “Although the data was positive, production in April continued to be affected by the operation of foreign trade, problems with global logistics and the shortage of semiconductor “Galdeano’s explanation.
