“Argentina is experiencing a very strong economic recovery”. The Minister of Economy began his presentation in this way in front of a group of important businessmen. In the context of the increasingly heated internal debate between the President and his most loyal ministers and the sector responding to Vice President Cristina Kirchner, the official again spoke to the public on Thursday and, for the third time in a week, his speech is based on three axes: where we are, where we come from, and where we seek to go.

About the thing that is most worrying at the local level: inflation, the minister said that “The key is to change expectations, so it’s not only important to have a consistent program but also one that’s credible.”

At the beginning of the meeting in front of the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production (Cicyp) and before the growing rumor, host Daniel Funes de Rioja, head of UIA, told Guzmán: “It’s a meeting place, and now there’s a real reunion after the pandemic.”

Last year, the pandemic still prevented all Council members from attending the event, so, as expected, lunch was even more intense.

The president of Cicyp is Daniel Funes de Rioja, the same leader of the Argentine Industrial Union. But also on the board of the institution are Nicolás Pino (Rural Society), Eduardo Eurnekian, Julio Crivelli (Chamber of Construction) and Adelmo Gabbi (Stock Exchange), among others.

The other directors who participated in Cicyp were Michael Acevedo, Martin Cabrales, Bettina Bulgheroni Y Jorge Brito (Macro Bank).

Last week, Guzmán participated in Neuquén in the IDEA Colloquium dedicated to petroleum. There he met key executives of a sector who were at the center of the scene as a result of the rise in international prices and the need to increase local production and make it possible for Vaca Muerta gas to exit the world.

From there he left for Bariloche, where the “red circle” armed by businessman Eduardo Elsztain was waiting for him at his Llao Llao hotel. The directors don’t go there but the owners of the companies.

Marcos Galperin (Mercado Libre), Martín Migoya (Globant), Carlos Miguens (San Miguel), Federico Braun (La Anónima), Verónica Andreani and Andy Freire (SoftBank), among others, were present. A less traditional group of entrepreneurs, more tied to technology than hard industry.

Cicyp usually brings together politicians from the ruling party and opposition. Among the last to participate in their meetings was the chief of staff, Juan Manzur.
