The fourth iteration of the Indigenous Initiatives Fund (AIF) will have a budget of $ 188.24 million for the next five years, representing an increase of $ 21 million from the 2017-2022 AIF.
The Aboriginal Initiatives Fund is a program, established since 2006, that aims to support the economic development of Aboriginal communities in Quebec by providing financial support to several initiatives.
In a press release, the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs also explained that the program provides more flexibility and that it now supports the digital shift of an economic development initiative.
With its budget of $ 188.4 million for 2022-2027, AIF will be able to support projects in communities divided into 7 different components.
“During my visits to various communities, I have seen positive spinoffs of the Aboriginal Initiatives Fund,” the Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, Ian Lafrenière, said at a press conference. Hopefully this program will continue to help small and large companies carry out their projects. ”
