Volkswagen Argentina today announced a change of CEO in the local branch. From 1 August the Brazilian Marcellus Puig will replace the German Thomas Owsianski in front of the Pacheco terminal. In doing so, Puig returns to the region after working at the headquarters as the Global Head of Human Resources for the brand.

With over 20 years of experience in the Group, the Brazilian Executive will take up his new post on 1 August and report to Pablo Di Si, Executive Chairman of Volkswagen Latin America.

The German Thomas Owsianski will continue within the company, now as Vice President Sales, Marketing and After Sales for South America, under the orders of the Argentine executive Pablo Di Si.

Marcellus Puig He began his career at Volkswagen Brazil in 1998, and in 24 years in the company he held various senior positions in Human Resources, even becoming Area Vice President at the Volkswagen Argentina Group between 2013 and 2017. He subsequently held the same position in Volkswagen Brazil and in the SAM region, between 2017 and 2021.

Marcellus has extensive international experience within the Volkswagen Group, having already had a previous stop in the Argentine branch. “It will certainly contribute greatly to even greater growth of our business in the country,” the document states. As part of the changes taking place in the company, Thomas Owsianski has been named Vice President Sales, Marketing and After Sales of the Volkswagen brand for the SAM region, focusing on the continued growth and transformation of the brand.

“With the aim of consolidating the growth of the brand in the region, Thomas Owsianski will focus on the Vice President of Sales, Marketing and After Sales for Latin America, which includes the 29 countries of South, Central and Caribbean America”, indicates the same affirmation.

Owsianski has a degree in Economics and has been with the VW Group since 2012, when he joined the Skoda team as Head of Global Marketing in the Czech Republic. In 2014 he became Executive Director of Sales and Marketing in Shanghai, China.

In 2016 he assumed the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the SAM Region where, in 2017, he became the 1st Executive Vice President of the Region. In 2018 he assumed the presidency of Audi China in Beijing and has served, and from September 2019 to date, as president and CEO of Volkswagen Group Argentina, INTERNAL, accumulating the vice president of Sales and Marketing of Volkswagen SAM since October 2020.
