Mentor of Martín Guzmán and Nobel Prize-winning economist are the premises that define Joseph Stiglitz, who this Sunday referred to the departure of his disciple from the Ministry of Economy. The Columbia professor argued “profound principles made it impossible for him to continue”.
Guzmán announced on Twitter his resignation as Economy Minister on Saturday at the same time as Vice President Cristina Kirchner took up criticism against him in the framework of the Ensenada Act.
According to the agency’s statements ReutersStiglitz said the minister he did a great job to resolve a debt crisis left by the previous government and revive growth after the pandemic.
“But the divisions in the government have made things unsustainable,” the agency published, according to statements by the Nobel laureate in economics who blamed Alberto Fernández.
In this sense Stiglitz stated of Guzmán that “his profound principles did it impossible to continue in office without a government commitment to a united, integrated and coordinated approach to the enormous challenges facing the economy.
