During his interview on July 14, the Head of State clearly plans to stop the supply of Russian gas and invites the French and companies to consume less.

For Emmanuel Macron, the scenario is clear: Russia uses gas as a “weapon of war”, we must prepare to “do without”, he declared during his television interview on July 14.

Emmanuel Macron calls, however, for “general mobilization” in the face of this new context. “We have already begun to diversify “our sources of supply”, and we will continue in Europe to obtain volumes of gas from Norway, Algeria…, we will continue”.

Gas stocks at 100% this winter: “we will be there”

And to continue: “we are rebuilding our stock to have 100% of our stock in the fall, we will be there”.

But it is also at the level of the citizen that we must now act. “We are entering a logic of sobriety. Now I will ask public administrations and large groups to draw up a sobriety plan this summer so that we can put ourselves in a position to consume less”, explains Emmanuel Macron.

10% less consumption by 2024

“Our first efforts are bearing fruit, we consume a little less than last year”, adds the President of the Republic, proof of the responsibility of the French in the face of this unprecedented situation…

This plan has a very specific objective: to reduce our energy consumption by 10% by 2024.

“The first thing is sobriety, the second is to develop renewables,” he continued.

“And we are going to pass an emergency law this summer to reduce delays. We have to go much faster, today it takes ten years to come up with an offshore wind farm plan, we have to go much faster to produce offshore wind power but also solar”. “.“We know the difficulties of onshore wind because there are acceptability issues,” he added.
