“More Specific” Mechanisms

The tariff shield is a government measure to “freeze” the rise in electricity and gas prices. Bercy is considering a new device to take over. Among the options considered, aid aimed at the most modest households, as confirmed by Emmanuel Macron on July 14.

“We are going to move towards mechanisms that are aimed at the people who need it most, which does not mean that the middle classes will not be helped,” he said.

The aid “will be adjusted to those who need it most,” the president said.
