To “Mr. X” or “Madame Y”, prefer a simple “Hello”. In a memorandum released by The FigaroThe General Directorate of Public Finances (DgFip) calls on its agents to stop using the formulas that mention “civility”, that is, the terms “Sir” or “Madam” in their letters and emails addressed to users .

“Adaptation to social changes”

From now on, only the use of the recipient’s name with the “Hello” call formula is recommended. Similarly, the polite formula “I remain at your disposal for any further information” should be preferred to formulas such as: “Please accept Mr….”.
