The summer sales were not a success, far from it. Although the first figures suggest a possible drop of 20 to 30% in turnover compared to last year, the general manager of Alliance du Commerce, Yohann Petiot, confirmed the downward trend in Business B.F.M..
The representative also insisted on the possible difficulties generated by this drop in attendance, while online commerce is developing more and more. Tariffs are particularly high, from skyrocketing shipping to soaring prices for raw materials like cotton. Rents are also a problem.
Eliminate or change sales?
Yohann Petiot also questions the possibility of staggering sales periods, or making them freer. Currently, the two periods are fixed by decree and are the same for all merchants and e-merchants.
Germany, for example, allows sellers to sell, and thus sell at a loss, whenever they want: online sales have competed much faster than physical sales in France.
