The executive seeks to rely on the LR group in the Assembly to find a compromise. Which could very well be a status quo.

The majority and the Republican deputies started from afar, but they could find an agreement on fuel: according to information from the magazine Le Point, the positions of the two groups in the Assembly are getting closer and closer on the future fuel reduction, a strong element of the purchasing power law currently under discussion in the chamber.

On the battery side, right-wing elected officials reject the idea of a fuel allocation for the more modest “big wheels,” forced to drive to work.

The provision is currently included in the bill to reform the finance law, which could be studied this week in the Assembly, after the purchasing power law.

On the face side, the majority flatly refuse to comply with the idea of the LR of a liter of fuel blocked at 1.50 euros, knowing the exorbitant budgetary cost of such a measure, and the low social acceptability of a future rise of prices. after the tax is collected.

18 cents, no balance?

guest of RTL On Monday morning, Bruno Le Maire spoke about the position of the executive, surely aligned with that of the Renaissance group in the Assembly. Setting limits to a very relaxed framework to think about future aid.

Possible outcome of behind-the-scenes negotiations: The tenant of Bercy met with Véronique Louwagie and Olivier Marleix, president of the LR group in the Assembly, last week, the extension of the discount of 18 cents. Enough to get closer to 1.50 euros per liter, thanks to the upcoming drop in oil prices.

The measure costs France 800 million euros a month, or some 4.4 billion euros that are in the 2022 budget. The executive, with the gradual reduction of the measure of 18 cents from September, and the controls of fuel that must be taken care of, had 2 billion in expenses. Therefore, it remains to find the right price for a political compromise, while the government still has to deal with a very relative majority.
