Taxpayers entitled to a refund of tax reductions or credits, as well as those who paid excess taxes at source in 2021, will be able to obtain a refund this Thursday.

Some taxpayers will receive a tax payment this Thursday, July 21. This will especially affect those who are entitled to a refund of tax reductions or credits for certain expenses incurred in 2021 (donations, work at home, child care, etc.).

Indeed, these specific expenses generally give rise to an advance corresponding to 60% of their amount in January. The remaining 40% is then paid in July if the level of spending has remained the same from year to year. What the tax authorities were able to verify thanks to the 2021 tax return completed in the spring.

Another scenario: Your tax withholdings, made over the past year, were higher than the final tax amount calculated from your 2021 tax return.

transfer or check

For affected taxpayers, the refund will be made this Thursday, July 21 or Tuesday, August 2. No action is necessary, the refund is made automatically by bank transfer if the tax authorities know your bank account. In this case, the transfer will bear the legend “REMB TAX REVENUS” and will be indicated as coming from “DGFIP FINANCES PUBLIQUES”.

On the contrary, if the tax authorities do not know your bank details, a check will be sent to your address in the coming weeks.
