Twitch has decided to make it easier to raise funds for charities. The live streaming platform has unveiled a test version of its new Twitch Charity feature. It allows you to set up a donation campaign and integrate it into broadcasts.
Currently accessible to a handful of content creators, the Twitch Charity is based on a partnership with the Paypal Giving Fund, as the platform’s blog indicates. The online payment specialist thus ensures collection and payment to the supported association.
A first own device
Previously, content creators had to use external services, such as StreamElements, or donate the sums generated during their broadcasts to the cause defended. But these means impose many logistical limitations.
This is the first time Twitch has integrated such a device on its own. Thanks to it, platform users can set up their support campaign directly on their dashboard, with just a few clicks.
Popularized in France by the ZEvent
Still in trial, Twitch Charity currently only offers a limited number of partnerships. If the cause a creator wants to help is not available, a form can be filled out to add it to the schema.
In France, charitable currents have been popularized by the ZEvent, organized each year by Adrien Nougaret (ZeratoR) and Alexandre Dachary (Dach). The event is also the one that has allowed the highest fundraising with 10 million euros raised last year to benefit Action Against Hunger.
On September 9, 10 and 11, the 2022 edition of the solidarity marathon will support the environment by donating the money raised to five associations. A decision made after a controversy surrounding the initial choice of the GoodPlanet foundation.
