The lack of attractiveness (wages and working conditions) largely explains the current shortage of personnel in the French aviation sector, in particular at airports. Faced with a situation that is causing great difficulties for passengers, with repeated strikes, the sector has managed to sign important industry agreements.
“The revaluation of the first seven salary levels of the grid resulting from this new salary agreement is greater than 6% compared to the agreement already signed in January 2022”, can be read in a press release from the FNAM, the National Federation of Aviation and its trades.
That is, an annual increase of between 1,100 and 1,417 euros for employees of these first levels. This revaluation raises the minimum annual salary of the 1st level of the grid for a full-time employee present for a year by more than 11% above the current annual minimum wage, “he continues.
+6% for entry level salaries
Last January, the FNAM had ratified a first wage agreement aimed at revaluing the lowest wages on the grid due to the impact of the rise in the minimum wage. The unions had managed to meet again in the spring because in the face of rampant inflation, the account was not there, particularly for security guards, an essential link in airport machines. Hence the big strikes like the one on July 2.
A second agreement on employment was also signed, which aims to simplify the classification table of the collective agreement for better consistency and recognition of career paths.
Translation: that the salaries of the most qualified positions are no longer so similar to those that are paid with the minimum wage… What has happened until now, again discouraging the candidates.
“These two agreements reflect a responsible and quality social dialogue in the professional branch of all the actors (unions and businessmen) that made it possible to find a compromise despite the fragile, unstable and uncertain economic context of the sector. in depth for the necessary attraction of air transport in France”, comments Hélène Clavé, Deputy General Delegate in charge of Social Affairs of the FNAM.
It remains to be seen if these agreements, as well as those signed with ADP (Paris Airports), will calm the social fever and avoid new strikes for the next big departures.
