On July 12, the Renaissance deputy Rémy Rebeyrotte gave a Nazi salute in the chamber of the National Assembly, claiming to want to show an elected RN that he should not do it himself. Marine Le Pen’s party, for its part, denounces an “invention” and announces that it will file a lawsuit for defamation.

Renaissance deputy (ex-LaREM) Rémy Rebeyrotte gave a Nazi salute in the National Assembly chamber on July 12, he told AFP, to show an elected RN that he shouldn’t do it himself. The Rassemblement has filed a libel suit.

Within the National Assembly, Marine Le Pen requested this Tuesday sanction for the macronist deputy within the conference of presidents.

“A regular of insults”, denounces the RN

“Mr. Rebeyrotte is used to insults. To hide his own baseness, he made up a story. It’s nonsense,” reacted Sébastien Chenu (RN).

“In addition to his despicable gesture, he adds the indignity of his lie,” judges a member of the group with BFMTV.

Rémy Rebeyrotte was summoned this Tuesday by the president of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, and will be summoned to the office of his political group, parliamentary sources.

“Do not do it again”

She “will not tolerate such behavior in the chamber” and will meet with other deputies to clarify what happened, said those around her. If necessary, the two offending deputies will be sanctioned, she specified.

During a vote on July 12 on the health bill, where the majority was defeated, “a big man from the RN stood up giving the Nazi salute” at the back of the boxes, says Rémy Rebeyrotte. The deputy for Saône-et-Loire then mimicked the gesture by telling him that “we (should) not do that”. The elect of the majority was seen by Marc Le Fur doing this salute imitating Hitler’s mustache.

“Don’t start over (…) it wasn’t pretty, Mr. Rebeyrotte,” the elected LR then launched.

The next day, deputy LaREM published a short post on Facebook where he recounts having then suffered “the physical pressure of three fachos, including the perpetrator,” in the parliamentarians’ snack bar.

Rémi Rebeyrotte “takes over”

It indicates that it will take over the office of the National Assembly, its highest collegiate body.

“I guess,” says the majority’s elected representative.

He regularly addresses RN elected officials from the microphone, throwing at them: “I find you a bit of a National Socialist” or “looks like Nuremberg at rush hour”.

The far-right deputies had never been so numerous in the Assembly, with a group of 89 deputies. They are in the midst of a quest for respectability and intend to continue the “demonization” of the RN.
