Registration to avoid the removal of subsidies closes this week.
More than two million households have already completed the grant registration form through which users can apply that the state keeps the subsidies in the electricity and gas bills.
The executive branch has been trying to raise the tariffs of public services since August, effective from September. For this, he is building a register of all families, waiting to define which ones will apply the “segmentation”.
Until Wednesday afternoon, less than 3% of subscribers are classified as “high income”, that is, they will lose the subsidies. They are something more than 70,000 homes.
In the government it is estimated that some users will face the increase they are not signing up. It is families who earn $ 348,000 net monthly, they have three properties or three cars. The executive power will eliminate the subsidies. And, therefore, it would be that segment of the population to decide do not fill in the form.
The government assumes it 920,000 electricity customers and 760,000 gas customers I am able to cope with the “Full costs” electricity and gas. More than 80% of the ballots are subsidized by the state. Energy subsidies were $ 11 billion in 2021 and are expected for this year about 15,000 million dollarsYes
Registration in the grant register It is performed based on the latest number of the DNI. From Wednesday they go to mark the finished ones in 3, 4 and 5, which have until Friday. From Saturday to Tuesday 26th it is possible to register IDs ending with 6, 7, 8 and 9.
Tariff segmentation
Although the government is satisfied with the enrollment levels, the goal of reaching 8 or 9 million families still seems complicated. For this reason, study an extension which could last until the end of the month.
So far, most of those who have registered fall into tariff level 2, which is considered “average income”. They will keep the subsidies this year. In 2023, this decision can be reviewed.
The Ministry of Energy asks all families to register, risking to remain without subsidies. However, customers who receive a minimum pension, or who have some sort of welfare or social assistance, will keep the current rates.
How much are the increases in light and gas?
So far this year, electricity and gas tariffs have risen by 42% for most customers. For the lowest-income sectors, it was half (21%). Now an increase is proposed for the upper sectors, which could be around 300%.
The Executive does not want to give percentage figures for the increase, for fear that there is talk of a “rate”. All it said is that an average electricity bill will increase by $ 1,200 per month.
Nearly 15 million families have already visited the grant register but have not completed it. To register, people must have electricity and gas bills (with relative customer and meter number), in addition to the CUIL of the applicant for the contribution and also of the members of his or her family.
