“We are also trying to help around the campsites: shops, artisans, small restaurants, sandwich shops, ice cream parlors, all those who live off tourism in the summer around these campsites,” he added.

At the same time, Olivia Grégoire and Bruno Le Maire ask insurers for “the greatest mobilization” to support the people and companies affected, according to a letter consulted by AFP on Friday.

“We think in particular of the campsites and restaurants that were destroyed” by the two fires, which devastated nearly 21,000 hectares of forest around Landiras and La Teste-de-Buch, they add in this letter sent Thursday to the president of France Assurers. , Florence Lustman.

Emmanuel Macron engagement

More specifically, Olivia Grégoire and Bruno Le Maire ask that those affected by the fires have “sufficient” time to declare their disaster, “while evacuations are still ongoing”.

They also advocate that compensation files be processed “as soon as possible.”

On Wednesday, during a trip to La Teste-de-Buch, President Emmanuel Macron had already promised that the state would help the owners of the campsites destroyed by the flames to rebuild them.

The goal is “so that they can open next season,” Olivia Grégoire’s entourage told AFP.
