In the context of the Covid-19 epidemic and the fight against this virus, the authorities have chosen -by law approved on August 5, 2021- to make the vaccination of personnel working in health establishments mandatory. In case of refusal, they cannot carry out their functions and are excluded from these establishments.
A decision criticized both by those interested and by the opposition. While the issue of the reintegration of these caregivers and administrative agents of the health sector arises in the public debate, the Ministry of Health has taken over the High Health Authority. The latter issued its opinion on the morning of this Friday, recommending that the vaccination obligation of these personnel be maintained until further notice.
“In response to a referral from the Minister of Health, the HAS issues a favorable opinion on the maintenance of the obligation to vaccinate against Covid-19 for personnel working in health and medical-social establishments,” declares the press release in the statement of reasons.
7th wave and uncertainty: the arguments of the HAS
The High Health Authority justifies its advice by the recent resurgence of contamination but also by the vagueness that still surrounds the disease and the health situation.
“In the context of a seventh wave, given the efficacy of the vaccines and the uncertainties about the continuation of the epidemic, the HAS considers that the data are not such as to question this vaccination obligation today,” the text continues. .
“In fact, it concerns those who have frequent and close contact with vulnerable people and therefore participates in their protection,” the opinion further defines.
