Payment methods: less fraud but higher amounts

The card value fraud rate is 0.059%, but the unit amounts defrauded are lower. In addition, the development of strong authentication has made it possible to reach “an all-time low” in Internet payment fraud.

But the greater security of the means of payment leads fraudsters to use more and more manipulation techniques to induce the victim to make or validate the payments themselves, in particular by posing as their bank advisor.

“The development of these techniques, which we call + manipulation +, must not lead to a gray area with too long reimbursement times”, or even non-refund, warned the governor of the Banque de France, François Villeroy de Galhau, while UFC -That Choisir filed a complaint against twelve banks at the end of June for this issue.
