Objective: to reduce its dependence on Moscow, after a new drastic drop in Russian deliveries,
The Brussels plan foresees that each country will have to “do everything possible” to reduce, between August 2022 and March 2023, its gas consumption by at least 15% compared to the average of the last five years in the same period.
“It was not an impossible mission! Ministers reached a political agreement to reduce gas demand for next winter,” the Czech Republic, which holds the rotating EU presidency, said on Twitter.
