Other negotiations are expected by the employees, in particular that of the whole of the salary table.

The French Association of Banks (AFB) and all unions representing the banking sector have agreed to raise minimum wages at the branch to 5% above the Smic, the social partners announced in a press release on Tuesday.

The agreement also includes “an update clause in the event of a revaluation of the minimum wage in the coming months and years,” announced the CFDT, the second representative union in the sector.

Without this agreement, five minimum wages out of the 55 in the bank collective agreement would be below the minimum wage as of August 1, according to the AFB.

Only 300 employees affected?

Last week, the inter-union, made up of the SNB, the CFDT, the CGT, the FO and the CFTC, denounced the AFB’s position of only wanting to increase the minimum to 2% above the Smic.

However, this revaluation should not affect many people, since these bottom-of-scale classifications are hardly used anymore: about 300 employees, that is, a drop of water among the 186,800 employees that the AFB affirms on its website.

“Actually, all branch employees are already paid above the minimum wage. But with this new negotiated measure, we are sending a strong signal: no one can charge below the minimum wage + 5% on August 1, and the social partners will meet in each of their developments to uphold this principle”, argued Maya Atig. , director general of the AFB, quoted in a press release.

Other negotiations are expected by the employees, in particular that of the whole of the salary table.

“This will be the essential theme of the beginning of the school year!” warns the CFDT, when FO, the fifth representative union, declares to expect “a strong signal of the beginning of the school year.”
