The head of Engie promises a “discount of about 100 euros” to the most modest customers

The discount announced by Catherine MacGregor on Thursday will be applied in November for customers who benefit from the government energy check.

Given the rise in energy prices, the general director of the Engie group announced this Thursday a discount of 100 euros for the most modest customers, during an interview with the Parisian. A gesture that will be applied in November and that it presents as a “complement to the energy check”, launched by the Government, again dedicated to the most precarious.

Still according to the head of Engie, the cost of this discount will amount to 90 million euros for the group. “It’s a civic gesture, to help our customers,” he continues.

Deprived of access to Russian gas due to its position against the invasion of Russian forces in Ukraine, the European Union is now forced to reduce its energy demand in order to accumulate gas reserves for the winter.

Given this tense context around the energy system in Europe, Catherine MacGregor is quite confident and states that Engie has “greatly anticipated the situation”.

“We have been working on different scenarios for some time, including a total cut in gas deliveries from Gazprom. The filling of the storage in France is progressing well,” he told the press. Parisianbefore advocating immediate “energy sobriety” to face a winter that could be very cold.
