A measure of the amending budget voted on Tuesday in the Senate provides for the possibility for employees to convert the RTT days not taken into remuneration, without taxation.

The measure made the left and the unions jump. Within the framework of the revision of the amending budget, the Senate with a right-wing majority voted during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday the possibility of converting its RTT days not raised into remuneration, without paying taxes for this amount. The High Assembly also voted to perpetuate this seizure of RTT, against the advice of the government, which wanted to limit this device in time, between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023.

Currently, RTT days not taken by employees who work more than 35 hours are forfeited. Unless the company’s collective agreement provides for the possibility of repurchasing them. But in this case, the resulting remuneration is subject to taxes and contributions. This is all the difference with the measure voted in the context of the amending budget.

15% of private sector employees

However, not everyone will be able to benefit from this measure. Starting with public officials who are excluded. As obviously the private sector employees who do not have RTT. This already considerably reduces the number of eligible people.

And for good reason, only 15% of employees benefit from RTT. According to DARES, these are mainly managers and employees with a fixed working day (14.7% of full-time employees have a fixed working day), mainly in the insurance, transport material manufacturing, electrical and electronic material manufacturing sectors. and computing and in information and communication. Most of them exercise more frequently in large groups and could already be redeemed for their unused RTT days.
