Four days before the official Indec inflation was known, a survey by a research center working with the CGT warned that July inflation was 7.3%, the highest in the last 20 years.
“Inflation was 7.3% in July, up 1.8 percentage points from June’s record. This is the highest monthly inflation since April 2002when it had exceeded 10% ”, indicates the report released this Monday.
The same was carried out jointly by the Statistical Institute of Workers (IET), the Metropolitan University for Education and Work (UMET) and the Center for Coordination and Development (CCD).
The results of this report coincide with the official report of the Municipality of Buenos Aires, according to which the increase in prices in the last month was 7.7%, the highest as the Buenos Aires authorities carry out the measurement.
“In July, inflation in the city of Buenos Aires reached 7.7%, thus recording an accumulated variation of 44.1% per year and an interannual variation of 69.2%”, they detailed in the IPCBA report created 10 years ago.
Along the same lines, the measurement for the CGT revealed that in the first seven months of the year inflation accumulated 47% and in the last 12 months the year-over-year increase reached 70.8%. Either way it is the highest records since 1991.
Those that increased the most according to the report
- Education (16.4%)
- Home equipment and maintenance (11.9%)
- Clothing and footwear (10.4%)
- Recreation and culture (9.7%)
- Other goods and services (8.5%)
- Health (8.3%)
- Food and drink (6.8%)
- Transportation (5.1%)
- Houses (4.7%)
- Communications (2.9%)
The voice that recorded the greatest increases according to the data collected by the CGT measurement was education, with 16.4%. According to reports, the start of the second half of the year had an impact, which usually has a adjustment of the monthly installments.
Equipment and home maintenance were the second with the highest increases: the rise in prices was seen in furniture and appliances. Armchairs, air conditioners, washing machines, microwaves and refrigerators top the list.
Clothing and footwear and leisure and culture rank in third and fourth place respectively. As they indicated, the change of seasons and the winter holidays have had an impact.
In other goods and services, which ranked in 5th place, the largest increase was recorded in cigarettes, hygiene and cleaning products and beauty items.
The increase in prices in the healthcare sector is mainly due to the increase in prepaid and medicines.
Finally, food and beverages remained below the general level, although they increased in price by 5.9%.
In this there were three food products where the increases exceeded 100% year on year: bread and cereals (+ 100.5%), oils and fats (+ 118.3%) and infusions (+ 107.5%). The smallest increases occurred in fruit (+ 55.3%) and meat (+ 67.5%).
In eighth place transport, in ninth the housing category – where the greatest increases were construction materials – and lastly communications, with moderate increases in telephone and internet services.
