A group of 46 Ryanair pilots have sued the airline in Belgian courts to demand pay rises, following several strikes in Europe this summer, their union CSC announced on Tuesday.
The pilots turned to the Charleroi labor court last week to have their salaries restored to their pre-Covid-19 pandemic level.
“The pilots have nothing”
During this crisis, which had grounded much of European civil aviation, Ryanair had obtained a 20% pay cut from its pilots, citing the need to save money and threatening to resort to dismissals, according to the Confederation of Trade Unions. Christians (CSC). ).
But the union now accuses the company of having used these salary cuts to gain market share after the restart of activity in Europe and the lifting of health restrictions.
Various social movements shook up the company this summer, particularly in Belgium and Spain, but also in France, Italy and Portugal.
“The pilots did not obtain anything and there is no discussion” with the management for this category of personnel, Didier Lebbe, union representative of the National Central of Employees (CNE), a member of the CCS, explained to AFP.
