While the majority of those surveyed say they are ready to reduce their energy consumption, almost one in four French people already say they consume the minimum.

Nearly six out of ten French people say they are ready to make an effort. While the executive calls on companies and individuals to stay energetically sober in preparation for the coming winter, the French express their intention to reduce their consumption of gas, electricity or even gasoline.

38% say that they already consume the minimum

According to a new “Opinion en direct” sondage conducted by the Institute Elabe pour BFMTV et diffusé ce mardi, 58% of the people questioned were ready to receive the help of the energy consommation in order to avoid the risk of hardship. the end of the year. Specifically, 15% want to reduce their consumption a lot and 43% want to reduce their consumption a little.

On the contrary, 4% of those surveyed could reduce their consumption but do not want to change their habits and 38% say that they already consume the minimum they need. “Anticipated” energy sobriety down compared to two months ago: during the previous survey carried out by Elabe on this topic, 63% said that they were already ready to reduce their energy consumption. The reason is the number of French people who already believe that they consume the minimum, which is increasing (31% last June).

Turn down the heat, not the first effort cited

Specifically, to avoid the risk of shortages this winter and limit the rise in energy prices, the French intend to favor some daily actions more than others. Therefore, 81% say that they are ready to favor the “eco” program of their washing machine or dishwasher. Almost 8 out of 10 French people (78%) also say they are willing to change their conventional light bulbs to LEDs, while 72% say they are willing to systematically unplug their household appliances in standby mode, be they screens, computers or washing machines.

The option of reducing the heating in the home only appears in fourth position: 7 French people say that they are nevertheless willing to make an effort on the radiator. It should also be noted that 66% of those consulted do not rule out lowering the temperature of the washing water in the coming weeks and months.
