“There are strange commercial practices”: half a dozen electric companies in the sights of the regulator

At BFM Business, Emmanuelle Wargon, president of the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE), warns alternative operators that they would be tempted to optimize their prices in this period of strong price pressure. Procedures will begin.

The explosion in electricity prices puts the alternative electricity operators that buy energy from Engie in a very delicate position. The case of Iberdrola is a striking example.

And the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE) is also examining the practices of these operators in terms of rates and in their relationships with their clients. Practices that are not always very legal, confirms on the set of Good Evening Business, Emmanuelle Wargon, the president of the CRE.

“We are very attentive to what suppliers do. (…) We must distinguish between providers that are in difficulty (but know how they treat their customers) and those that would be tempted to optimize”.

“We are going to open investigations”

Regarding the Iberdrola case, which decided to leave France, the manager intends to “verify” the justifications of the Spanish operator. “We will watch that they have not obtained undue profits in this story, and that they find a new supplier for the clients.”
