The Emerging City festival is back, to be held in the woods of Palermo and there will be an opening with established artists

It is a classic that is already 15 years old and has a unique continuity in the local scene. The The Emerging City Festival will be held this year from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October, in the woods of Palermowith three full days outdoors to enjoy youth culture from across the country.

After passing through the Recoleta Cultural Center, the Usina del Arte and even the San Telmo neighborhood, this time the festival will take place on the grounds of the former Velodrome of Palermo and its surroundings, entering from Avenida Belisario Roldán 4400, behind the Planetarium.

There will be urban culture, sports, literature, performances, gastronomy, the Emergentito space with special activities for children and the new Buenos Aires Green Space.

Ciudad Emergente is a platform for new artists from all over the country to showcase their talent. Through federal calls, new bands and artists from all provinces are added every year, who are chosen by a selection committee made up of representatives of the music industry and the vote of the fans. In this way, the local scene feeds on new visions and sounds from all over Argentina, in an enriching cultural exchange.

A national call

Emerging bands from all over the country, who have joined the national call # ExperienciaEmergente2022, of which 50 bands from all provinces have been selected to experience virtual education and training meetings with music experts.

After this process, the bands were chosen to travel to the city of Buenos Aires and play on one of the festival stages. Were selected to represent each of the regions of Argentina at the festival: Piba from the city of Buenos Aires, Negra Chavez from the province of Buenos Aires, Hollywood Bungalows from Jujuy, Rot Alone from Misiones, Delta Caliber from Neuquén, Rudy from Cordoba and Feli Ruiz de Mendoza.

In addition, this year the Emergent went on tour and was present at the ActiVamos events, in the municipality of Tres de Febrero, and Pinamar Emerge in the seaside resort. Local bands played at both events and two from each city were selected to perform on one of the Festival stages in the city of Buenos Aires. In the case of Tres de Febrero, the bands that will play at the Emergente are Sabot and Paraleia. And from Pinamar will play xAlteregOx and Siesta voodoo.

Urban culture

The Urban Culture Space will have freestyle, trap, rap, scratching and breaking, a space full of hip hop culture. In addition, urban and innovative sports like bubble football and Quidditch and alternative sports like Kinball, Lacrosse, Badminton, Cornhhole and Jugger to play with family, friends or attend professional demonstrations.

The skating, roller and BMX rink will offer the chance to see the experts in action, and at night it will be the space where silent parties will be held and you can enjoy a performance with bright skaters.

Artists such as: Acid Ass Dance Crew, Agust1n, Bad Boy Orange, Big Frey, Chulimane, Elah Gonzalez, FCR Crew, Guacho Bleu, Ilan Amores, Irina Rakshina will participate.

The final of the battle dj “Open Format”, Latin Geisha, Lego Skillz, Mamba Uno, Swerv, Tobi, Valuki and White Talls.

In addition, the Arte en Barrios program will present the student DJs of the electronic music laboratory and propose a new edition of the Urban Art Meeting in which 16 artists will compete. During the festival there will be visual arts installations with an aesthetic impact during the day and lighting at night.

It will be an opportunity for emerging artists and references in the visual field. In addition, several muralists and artists will intervene in the waste containers that will be used in the festival. Clara Wall, Fernando Gronski, Gon World, Manglar, Miranda Lorenzo, Ojo with Patas and Sergio Instanto (from Starte en tu Barrio) are some of the artists who will take part in the venue with their artistic proposals.

For the little ones

Emergentito, the space for boys and girls within the festival, presents itself with a different proposal.

For the little ones, shows by the children’s rock groups NiLocos, TaTetí Rock and Los Rockan and urban dance classes to sing and get the body moving.

The preteens will follow urban dance lessons and DJ sets with urban music by Emi Campana and Sofía Hervier.

The space will be intervened by the visual artist Eye with legs.

In this space the following DJs, vjs and visual artists will perform: Aili Aka Sueño, Aldo Benitez, Anita B Queen, Cintia Cejas, Dana Cozzi, Federico Lamas, Forello, Gabi, GCLL, Glück, Joaquina Salgado, Jonas Kopp & Efren Mur , Kren Organico, La Cintia, Lau Gonzalezs, Laureano Solis, Maia Mónaco, MDC, Maite Pucci & Emilia Staciuk, Mariela Bond, Nait Saves, NikNak (UK), Outro, Pistolera, Qualia, Rafael Parratoro, Red Serpent, Tolch, Vanessa Massa, Victoria Engel, VXN and Yhomara Muñoz.

Families and friends can sign up for the Race to discover the Forests of Palermo. The goal will be to get the most points within an hour and a half, overcoming challenges and solving questions and puzzles through an interactive conversation with Boti, the virtual assistant of the Municipality. The Race will invite you to discover and visit spaces that are icons of the territory. The 10 teams with the most points will win.

In collaboration with Transporte BA, the activities will be designed to facilitate arrival at the festival by bicycle, promoting attention to the environment and sustainable mobility. There will be bike rides to the rhythm of music through the Bosques de Palermo by DJ Bad Boy Orange and his Bici Naranjita. The artist Clara Wall will intervene with the helmets that will be raffled among those who will pass by the bicycle rack located at the entrance of the property.

The property will have safe spaces for storing bicycles. The influencer Miranda Lorenzo will tour the venue on a bike on which she herself has intervened and will present several outfits created by her. For her part, Transporte BA she will present the activity Leave the wheels to the little ones, to learn how to ride a bicycle.
