The film topped the weekend in the United States with $43 million in grosses.

Despite “Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore” topping the US box office in its first opening weekend, taking in $43 million, the film had the worst opening ever for a film in the Harry Potter universe. The information is from Variety.

“Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secret” beat “Sonic 2: The Movie,” which took in $30 million and took second place at the box office. Then comes “A Cidade Perdida”, a feature film starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum and with special participation of Brad Pitt and Daniel Radcliffewhich closes the top 3 earning US$ 6.5 million.

The comedy “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, with the veteran Michelle Yeohcame in fourth with $6.1 million, while “Father Stu’s Story” closed the top 5 with $5.7 million.

ON “FANTASTIC BEASTS: DUMBLEDORE’S SECRETS”

The third “Fantastic Beasts” movie will see the celebrated Hogwarts wizard, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) – who knows about the search for control of Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) – enlist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead a team on a dangerous quest in which they’ll encounter both old and new fantasticals, as well as the villain’s growing legion of followers.

The feature still has the returns of Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turnerand the input of Jessica Williams (“Love Life”), Richard Coyle (“Grabbers”) and the Brazilian actress Maria Fernanda Candido (“My Hindu Friend”) in the main cast.

David Yates, responsible for the two previous films of the derivative, follows in the direction. The screenplay is by the author of the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling in colaboration with Steve Kloves.
