center stage

It is a mobile structure made up of rods and LED light points which is suspended above the musicians in the center of the stage.

The device exerts its magnetism, with a size of 10 meters in diameter and 6 meters in height, some articulated rods and their lights on. Ethereal and static, the sculpture invokes movement before the experience begins: the sensation is as if thousands of sticks have been thrown into the air and what we see is that moment frozen in the air, forming an attractive disorder.

The work proceeds through various sections. In each one a voice intervenes that reads a sonnet or a text by Barthes (Male, female, or child’s voice alternates), accompanied by various layers of delicate textures (sometimes short repeating motifs, playing in unison; short melodies, more rhythmic or more lyrical) that the quartet of prepared electric guitars, with different tunings and pedal effects, put together.

The dance of the sculpture – which sometimes rotates on its axis, unfolding the mechanical rods – reacts with the music and the voices through real-time processing.

poetics of movement

There is an intensification between music, space, time and the visual effects of sculpture, which are integrated not so much by a convergence through synchronism, but by a poetics of movement.

The intensity, colors and movement of the lights react, open and They put together a beautiful dance in space. Music intensifies the sensation of floating and immersion.

According to the text explaining the work, the particular voice of each speaker is a trigger of acoustic, gestural, dramatic relationships and strictly musical. However, the recorded voices reciting the lyrics weren’t always intelligible, and the lyrics didn’t fully integrate into the experience. Sometimes they even sounded a little disruptive.

The elegant movements of the sculpture and its becoming of light stimuli, which vary without being able to guess the trajectories, modeled together with the music a powerful playful celebration experience.
