On Thursday, the American television channel ABC, which belongs to Disney, aired a tribute to the classic film The beauty and the Beast, 30 years after winning two Oscars. The news was a cast led by singer-songwriter HER., which a few weeks ago was in Argentina as Coldplay’s opening act in River.
The television special, half live action and half animation, was simply titled Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration and was directed by Hamish Hamilton.
In the cast, HER, Joshua Henry and Josh Groban had the lead roles such as Belle, Beast and Gaston. Additionally, David Alan Grier played Cogsworth, Martin Short was Lumière, and Shania Twain was an accomplished Mrs. Potts.
As a special detail, breaking the traditional setting, HER finally shipped with a furious rock guitar solo.

As HER said mid-year when announcing the project on her social media, “I’m so excited! I can’t believe I’m going to be part of the Beauty and the Beast legacy! The world will meet an Afro-Filipino beauty. I’ve always wanted to be a Disney princess, now I have the opportunity to work with two wonderful directors, Hamish Hamilton and my favorite, Jon M. Chu, the executive producer.”
For his part, Chu had no more than praise for the young Californian 25-year-old: “With her extraordinary talent and stage presence, HER is the perfect embodiment of our Bella and we are thrilled for audiences to see her in this celebration of creativity.”
He added, “We were both influenced as storytellers by the original animated film, so it’s very exciting to collaborate together to honor the artistry of that timeless classic while inspiring a whole new generation of creators.”

So far in his career, HER has earned five Grammy Awards out of a total of 21 nominations.. Her real name is Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson and she was born in 1997 in the town of Vallejo, in the state of California.
Daughter of parents of Filipino and African descent, she began pursuing music at the age of 10, with minimal appearances in programs in the United States, such as TODAY’S SHOW; the BET channel awards and children’s programs from Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.
In 2016, she signed her first record deal and began performing under the moniker HER, which stands for ‘Having Everything Revealed’.
His first single was focuswent viral for the diffusion given to it by characters such as Alicia Keys, Kylie Jenner and Rihanna
In 2021, his album was finally released Back of my mindwhich included the hit songs Slide featuring rapper YG, Damage and Come throughwith Chris Brown.

This 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of The beauty and the Beast became, in 1992, the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. While it didn’t win the grand prize, it did win both installments for Best Original Song (The beauty and the Beast) and Best Original Score (created by Alan Menken).
This was the reason for the joint production of Done+Dusted with Walt Disney Television Alternative and Electric Somewhere. The special was filmed in front of a live audience at Disney Studios, aired December 15, and was available on Disney+ the following day..
