A documentary about George Michael narrated by the singer will be launched in June

George Michael: Freedom Unbrokena new documentary about the life and career of singer George Michael, who died in 2016, will be seen on screens around the world on June 22nd.

In a press release, the film was described as thefinal task of the artist, who has largely contributed to it as co-director with David Austin. Extremely involved in creating the documentary prior to his death on December 25, 2016, George Michael also plays the narrator.

Unbroken Freedom focused on George Michael’s career period immediately after the release of his debut album, Faithwhich was launched in 1987. It refers primarily to the event of creating his second album, Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 (1990) and the ensuing legal battle with his CBS Records label, which would become Sony Music Entertainment in 1991.

The film also discusses the death of his first love, Anselmo Feleppa, who died of AIDS-related complications in 1993, as well as the death of his mother, who died of cancer in 1997.

The documentary features several photos and videos from the George Michael archive, as well as unseen clips from the filming of the music video for Freedom! ’90, under the direction of David Fincher. It also includes several interviews with Michael’s relatives and peers, such as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Mary J. Blige, Liam Gallagher and Tony Bennett.
