Puss in Boots, one of the characters (companies) of the saga of Shrekwhich is already finished and will start again with a reboot, he comes back with his film later The cat with the boots (2011). It’s inside Puss in Boots: The Last Wishin which Antonio Banderas lends his voice again, as soon as he leaves, he dies crushed by an enormous bell.

It wouldn’t be a problem for someone who has nine lives like Gato, but it would be if the one he just lost was the eighth. A visit to the doctor is essential: so he warns that he has died many times, and the doctor recommends two things.

Withdrawal from action. And don’t die anymore.

all their deaths

The sequence in which Gato remembers his eight deaths – not all of them heroic – is one of the most exhilarating moments of this action comedy, in the best style of the other DreamWorks Animation productions (do you remember the beginning of the first minionwhen do they remember their prehistory?).

And before having a midlife crisis, Gato discovers a possible salvation: with the help of his ex-girlfriend Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek, another repatriate), he sets the GPS and goes to the Black Forest, in search of the mythical Stella of wishes, to see if he can recover his life.

Getting to the Star and not losing it won’t be easy, and along the way we will be joined by characters (a mangy puppy), Goldilocks and a family of delinquent teddy bears. And also, of course, a bounty hunter in the shape of a Wolf, which is none other than Death who comes looking for Gato and tirelessly pursues him.

There are many nods to cinematic classics, especially spaghetti westerns, and a voice cast of Hollywood stars (add Florence Pugh as Goldilocks and Olivia Colman, as Mama Bear), while in the Spanish version the local talent is Julieta Nair Calvo, Axel Kuschevatzky, Patricia Echegoyen and Mariano Chiesa.

Visually, the film has a very different texture: the images appear to be brush painted rather than computer animated.

Directed by Joel Crawford (The Croods 2: A New Era), Puss in Boots: The Last Wish It’s perhaps darker than the previous ones in the Shrek universe, mainly because it involves the feeling and genuine fear of losing one’s life in a more realistic way, if you will, and the appearances of the Wolf can hardly scare anyone. look at the screen instead of the bucket of popcorn.

Don’t worry if you think this will be the last appearance of Puss in Boots: the final image will make the most fanatic stand up a bit.
