Actor Al Brown, the remembered police chief of the series The Wire, has died

The actor Al Brownfamous for playing Colonel Stan Valchek in the iconic series The cable, died at the age of 83 in Las Vegas, United States. His manager, Michael Mogan, first reported it via social media.

Y his daughter Jenny later confirmed it in dialogue with the specialized site TMZspecifying that his father’s leading cause of death was the Alzheimer he suffered several years ago.

Brown’s rep shared a post on a fan account of the actor Facebook What he said: “I am saddened to report that angels have come in the morning for Al Brown”text begins.

“May his memory be a blessing to his family, friends and each of you. This page will stand as a testament to Al’s work and the love of Al’s fans.”

Brown has not had a very illustrious career as an actor. His only relevant role – and for which everyone remembers him – was that of chief of the Baltimore Police Department in The cable.

Baltimore’s intimidating police chief

Brown played Stan Valchek, a Polish-American intimidator who plays the old school cop. The role was pivotal in the story created by David Simon, which sought to reflect the bureaucratic workings of Baltimore’s police and public system.

HBO’s acclaimed crime drama ran for five seasons and has taken on many of the city’s criminal, illegal, and/or corrupt underworld, with the focus always on the police, primarily homicide detective Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West).

Each season has focused on a different theme. The first focused on illegal drug trafficking, the second on the Coimero port system, the third on local politics and power struggles; the fourth in the primary and secondary public education system; and the fifth and last in media and information management.

Brown appeared in 20 episodes of the series.with more recurrence and relevance in the second season of The cablecentered around the city’s ports and the dockers’ union led by Frank Sobotka (Chris Bauer).

His character ordered the workers to be investigated because he suspected there was corruption and drug trafficking in the port trade. That second installment concludes with Valchek leading a dramatic arrest in front of the press.

The war veteran who started acting in the 90s

As already mentioned, Brown hasn’t had bigger roles like that in the HBO series. His daughter Jenny said tmz extension that Al began working in film and television in the 1990s after serving 29 years in the Air Force and surviving the Vietnam War.

Hence his short record in cinema and television. Brown has appeared in supporting roles as well as loose chapters in series such as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Madam president, Save me Brown Y The hustlerMoreover.

He has also had cameos and appearances in various films.between them 12 monkeys, team to force, The red dragon, open heart, Heights of Liberty Y Double or nothing.
