The Civil Police have communicated that they are investigating the causes and that they are trying to ascertain if the driver has driven more hours than recommended. After his statement, the driver was released.

“The tests ruled out skid marks or a collision with another vehicle. What we have so far is that there was a loss of control by the driver, which resulted in the overturning,” added the delegate. Mechanical tests still need to be completed to rule out a brake failure, said Goncalves da Silva.

The bus of the Viação Catarinense company left Florianópolis on Monday at 16:20 bound for Foz do Iguazú, 940 kilometers away. Midway through the voyage there was a fatal oversight which resulted in seven deaths, five of them Argentines.
