Hand in hand with its iconic yogurt brand, “Yogurísimo”, Danone has announced the market launch of a new line of products with CONICET technologywith probiotics that contribute to people’s respiratory and gastrointestinal health.

The launch is the result of the signing of a licensing agreement between Danone and the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) in 2022, which made it possible to incorporate a probiotic strain studied and developed by Argentinian scientists of the Cerela Institute of Tucumán.

The probiotic strain is called Lactobacillus rhamnosus CRL1505 and belongs to the CERELA-CONICET Culture Collection. The results of clinical studies carried out have shown, in those who have consumed this probiotic yogurt, a significant decrease in the occurrence of infectious events (such as upper colds, angina and acute diarrhoea) associated with the consumption of probiotic yogurt.

“The incorporation of the CRL1505 strain into the product line of a company the size of Danone engaged in national science and technology, will make it possible to make value-added foods with a scientifically proven beneficial effect on health available to all society”, underlined María Pía Taranto, CONICET researcher and technical manager of the project.

And he added: “Seeing the results of years of basic and applied research become a product with benefits for people’s health generates enormous satisfaction and pride; We ratify the path we have chosen to do science in our country and to be able to contribute to Argentine scientific sovereignty with quality research and high competitiveness”.

Commitment to healthy eating

“At Danone we have had a strong commitment to healthy eating for the Argentine population for over 25 years. We are proud to once again bet on science and technology to evolve our recipes and continue to reaffirm our purpose of providing health through food to as many people as possible. We are the only company in Argentina that has probiotics in its yogurts, as well as other positive nutrients such as calcium, vitamins, iron and zinc. This new product is available in more than 100,000 stores across the country,” said Juan Garibaldi, Senior VP of Danone Southern Cone.

“We are very proud of how Yogurísimo has taken another step forward in its commitment to be the superfood that inspires all Argentines to improve themselves and improve their nutrition yogurt after yogurt with its new line of products. Under the motto “Perfection made yoghurt” our consumers will be able to enjoy a yogurt that is not only tasty but also contributes to their respiratory and gastrointestinal healthcommented Laura Rapino, Senior Marketing Director of Danone.

Over the years, through the constant process of scientific research and development, Yogurísimo de La Serenísima has made improvements to its recipes with the aim of improving the nutritional profile of yoghurts. Currently, the brand’s product portfolio does not contain any preservatives, artificial colours, HFCS or TACCs and are enriched with vitamin B9 and zinc.

How is the new Yogurísimo line

The new line of Yogurísimo de La Serenísima with CONICET technology is available in a drinkable version (sachet, tetra or bottle), in its natural flavored versions and also in the classic Cremix and Firm versions. It can be purchased in more than 100,000 points of sale in the country, which means an extra commitment from Danone to the quality and wholesomeness of its food.

Through Yogurísimo, Danone will donate 2,500 yoghurts a day to be distributed to institutions with a social purpose. Because science not only contributes to the development of products for families, but also to be a source of food for Argentine children.

In 2022, the “UNITED FOR A SUPERFOOD” program was launched together with the Argentine Food Banks Network and the Danone Foundation. The initiative seeks to promote better nutrition in children and their families by donating 1,000,000 portions of yogurt, reaching 18 cities across the country through 4,000 canteens, impacting over 300,000 people. In this way, the purpose of Yogurísimo is to inspire all Argentines to improve themselves and improve their nutrition.
