The musician and actor Pablo Ruiz, youth star of the eighties and early nineties, assures that he has stopped “being Pablito” since his foray into typethe work of Jose Maria Muscariwho called him to be one of the figures of the tour he is currently doing in Mar del Plata and other seaside resorts.
In the work that combines nudity with acting and musical numbers, the artist sings his hit Oh, mom… He kissed mein one of the most celebrated moments of the performances, e two experimental versions of songs by Soda Stereo which he was commissioned to assume and are a tribute to Gustavo Cerati, with whom he has a strong emotional bond.
In dialogue with TelamRuiz ensures that the call to participate type It came at a time of a lot of introspection and when he had recently experienced his first panic attack.
“I said yes instantly,” she says from a seat at the Roxy Theatre, where it runs Thursday through Sunday, alongside a cast she shares Ginette Reynal, Christian Sancho, Celeste Muriega, Valeria Archimó and Martín Salweamong others.
A fan of Cerati
-Why did you choose to cover Gustavo Cerati?
-AND one of my idols and it connects me a lot on a spiritual level. I am on a very “inward” path at this stage of my life. I met him when I was little, when I just got out, We met for the first time at a Clarín newspaper party and it really struck me because at home, when I was 9 or 10, I used to sing their songs. We later met again in Mexico and had the same manager. It was his music that made me want to composethats why i still like to sing his stuff.
-What struck you most about his life and career?
-I was very impressed the way he died; It came to me and I cried a lot the day I found out she was gone. We are all spiritually connected, we are all part of a great creative energy and I believe that this show asked me to sing it. I’ve made versions of In the city of fury AND American tents I sing together with Cele Muriega and Gisela Lepío.
“I think that Gustavo’s spirit makes people get up, dance and feel like celebrating“.
-How did you decide to join “Sex”?
–type He came into my life at a very special moment. I had my first panic attack during the pandemic and theater has helped me keep going. At that time I had to go on tour in Chile and that’s why I entered almost without rehearsing, but when a show of these characteristics is already on stage there’s not much to practice, it’s a matter of throwing yourself on stage.
-Do you think a bet like this made you grow as an artist?
-At the acting level it is a major challenge because you have to stand up in a very serious, challenging and winning way. You have to please the audience and show you from a very arrogant point of view. I’ve grown a lot and I’m still in that transformation. I am no longer Pablito.
“Sexually, I’m very open”
-Are you modest when it comes to showing off your body on stage?
-On a sexual level I’m very open, in the comedy at one point they joke about it. “I’m very exhibitionist”, says Valeria Archimó to Christian Sancho, who replies “like Pablito Ruiz”, in one of the exchanges before he sings one of my songs. I’ve never been shy with my body, I’ve done nudism on the beaches of Punta del Este, Brazil and Barcelona, but not yet in Argentina. I found out that there is a nudist beach in Mar del Plata and I could go there these days.
-Are you recording new music?
-I recorded a record that talks about all my changes and an awakening, which partly came from the hand of type and from a movie (I’m innocent) which recently debuted in Peru where I play a world famous artist called Pablito Ruiz who gets killed and very funny things happen from that. I am experiencing a very beautiful artistic moment.
-Today there are young artists who become famous for their songs without having to release a record, what do you think, that you also edited on vinyl?
-I I continue with the previous method, I’ve done 12 songs and I know it’s something you don’t use anymore. They’re all singles now, but I thought I’d release them every 15 days or something.
-Do you like those new artists? Do you listen to them?
-I love them, I really like Trueno, Lali (Esposito), who are very good and creative, and Paulo Londra I find it amazing. I’d like to work with them. In fact, in the album I invited two young sons of my friends to play reggaeton.
-Do you think that after the pandemic the audience’s relationship with the theater has changed?
I don’t think so, at least from my point of view. I had and don’t have a problem with approaching people, I’m not afraid of them. I also don’t think another virus or another pandemic will come, I try to think positive and I think We will get through this and everything will be fine.
