The viral 2023 Grammy Awards moment between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck is cracking. During the Sunday ceremony, the pair sparked intrigue on social media when they were seen speaking as host Trevor Noah gave one of his monologues in front of them.

It all started when Ben Affleck whispered something in Jennifer Lopez’s ear, and she responded by turning towards him and gently patting his chest as she responded to his statement.

To analyze the moment, the Canadian site ET talked to forensic lip reader Jeremy Freemanwho provided insight into the conversation.

The eyes of an expert

“I think when Ben Affleck whispered in Jennifer Lopez’s ear, she said, ‘Stop it. Sounds friendlier. Try to sound more driven,'” Freeman said ET. “Then he turned around and Ben Affleck awkwardly shut up and said, ‘Could be.'”

Timing isn’t the only reason Affleck went viral on Sunday’s show. The 50-year-old actor also made headlines for his facial expressions during the musical figure award, in which he was seen directly bored.

However, a source told the Canadian newspaper that “Jen and Ben had a fun date at the Grammys, but they’ve both been very busy working on various projects and Ben was feeling tired.” “I wanted to go support Jen, but she wasn’t feeling very well and she wasn’t as usual.”

And of course, she tried to iron out the boredom: “Jennifer had a blast and wanted Ben to be excited to be there, but he understood where I was coming from,” the source added. “Jen knows Ben is a great husband and yet they made sure to have a good night together.”

This same person from Jennifer Lopez’s environment assured that the artist “knows how much Ben supports her and her work, but also understands that Ben is more of a housewife, and it’s not for him to always be at events.”

“Appreciate your support,” the source concluded, “whether you’re away or just at home.”

The truth is that the Grammy ceremony lasted almost three hours, in which Jennifer Lopez was the presenter of a shortlist, so her role in the broadcast was quite short. However, the television did not stop keeping an eye on the couple throughout the ceremony. That time and that exposure, plus the red carpet before the awards ceremony, tired good old Affleck.

And although he is a seasoned actor, with films that have won an Oscar (he has one for the original screenplay of Hunting for goodwillin search of destiny— and another for Best Picture for Argonwhich he directed, produced, and starred in), the job didn’t give him enough to show anything funnier at the Grammys.
