José María Muscari and his new obsession: working from Monday to Monday

If there is something that makes José María Muscari stand out, it is his ability to work. He director, also actor and playwrighthe doesn’t miss any chance to continue creating and now adds a new project to the theater lineup.

Plagiarism is the name of the work he prepares and that will arrive in April on the stage of the Teatro Regina. As always, Muscari offers something different, a twist that, beyond the tastes, undoubtedly distinguishes his work. In Plagiarism there will be four pairs of actors who will tell the same story, but with different points of view.

This pattern of pairs of rotating casts will allow for the work be on the bill, from Monday to Monday, without interruptions. As announced, with this piece Muscari returns to the theater of texts, betting on the new, the different, the transgressive and breaking with the traditional schemes.

Same love, different versions

The subtitle of Plagiarism AND “four versions of the same love“, and when it arrives at the Regina, it will be the only comedy in Argentina that is performed from Monday to Monday with actors of the highest level. In this way, there will be four parallel casts with four different versions for the same story, which will cover the functions of the seven days of the week.

What is the story about? A couple is crossed by success and it is then that the possibility of failure lurks. The viewer can choose which duo to see and will find the same story told from different points of view. And also look at the story, more than once, and discover new nuances, depending on the chosen cast.

The actors who will give life to these couples are: They, with Inés Estévez and Malena Solda; Theywith Nazareno Casero and Martín Seefeld; She and himwith Esther Goris and Nicolás Riera and, Him and her, with Brenda Asnicar and Benjamin Rojas.

Some of the questions that arise from the new material written by Muscari are: who is right in love? Is there one who always loves more than the other? Love and triumph, do they unite you or separate you? Jealousy, betrayal, sex, insecurity are themes that will be present in Plagiarism.

With this proposal Muscari undertakes to offer theater with shows from Monday to Monday and ensures: “you can go to the theater every day of the week and there will always be a show”. Plagiarism is a Pronoia Producciones production by Paola Luttini, co-creator of the lucky one typetogether with the director.

Muscari has indeed started 2023 with three versions of Sex, I have lived your experienceresponsible for three different casts in the three most important places: Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata and Villa Carlos Paz, in the summer theater season.

Last year, however, Muscari debuted with a work on the official circuit of the city and made its debut Julius Caesar, a very personal and revolutionary take on William Shakespeare’s classic, with a cast led by Moria Casan. The show has been chosen to reopen the hall of the Cine Teatro El Plata, in Mataderos and which belongs to the Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires (CTBA).
